Register for ESL classes at the Vietnamese American Community Center of the East Bay (VACCEB) for the fall class at our location in Oakland.

Period:   September 6-October 27, 2011

Total Classes:  16

Days:  Tuesday and Thursdays

Time:  9:00am – 10:30am

Registration Fee:  $40 per student

ESL Level 1: Basic English vocabulary building, pronunciation and reading skills. Students will learn to familiarize themselves with the language and join in class discussions and activities.
Class Dates: Wednesdays and Fridays, 8:30 AM- 10:00 AM

ESL Level 2: Continuation of basic English vocabulary building, pronunciation and reading skills, with grammar instruction and English writing.
Class Dates: Wednesdays and Fridays, 10:00 AM- 11:30 AM

Film and Conversation: This class will introduce students to American cinema, explore Asian culture and themes in modern film. Students will be familiarized with English pronunciation and accents and will join in class activities.
Films will include The Joy Luck Club, The Wedding Banquet and A Village Called Versailles, among others.
Class Date: Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, 8:30 AM- 10:00 AM
First Day of Class: Tuesday, February 8, 2011
Last Day of Class: Tuesday, March 1, 2011

Reading Comprehension and Writing: This class will introduce students to basic English reading and writing skills, including grammar overview. Students will explore Asian cultures and themes in contemporary books and short stories.
Short story readings include The Joy Luck Club, Catfish and Mandala, The Alchemist, among others.
Class Date: Tuesday, Thursdays, 10:00 AM- 12:00 PM
First Day of Class: Thursday, February 10, 2011
Last Day of Class: Thursday, March 3, 2011

Each class is $20 monthly.
